  • $91 per night for single occupancy; $20 extra per additional guest. Room Rate includes breakfast for up to 3 individuals.
  • Please plan to arrival at the hotel on Monday, June 4th in time for an early evening Forum registration/check-in. The Mars Ice Challenge Forum ends at 9 p.m. on Thursday, June 7th - please plan to depart on Friday June 8th.


  • To make reservations by phone, please call the in-house reservations at 757-827-8200 or the Embassy line at 1-800-EMBASSY and use the Group Code.
  • To make reservations online, please visit, enter the dates, then choose “Add Special Rate Codes” then enter the group code in the box labeled “Group Code”
  • Deadline to make a reservation is Tuesday, May 1st, 2018.

Shipping and Receiving: Due to limitations in secured storage space, the Hotel will only accept packages as follows:

Boxes/packages may be sent for arrival a maximum of 48 hours prior to group arrival and will be marked with the responsible party’s name, Group name, plus “Hold for Arrival Date of Monday, June 4, 2018”

There will be a handling charge as follows:

  • Boxes up to 36" x 24" x 24" - $5 per box
  • Larger boxes / display cases - $10 per box
  • Pallets - $20 per box

Please indicate that charges should be made to team or university. Additional labor charges may be incurred depending on the size of the shipment, at the discretion of the Hotel.

Hotel will not be responsible for any shipping charges, damages or loss to any packages or boxes.



The Judges will review project plans and select teams to move on to the second phase of the competition. Teams which pass a Mid-Project Review will be invited to the 2018 RASC-AL Special Edition: Mars Ice Challenge Forum, held in Hampton, Virginia at NASA Langley Research Center June 5-8, 2018.

The deadline to register for the forum is May 1st, 2018.

Each selected design team will receive a monetary award to facilitate full participation in the Forum. Details of the award will be communicated directly to each team’s faculty/industry advisor. Most meals are included with the registration fee.

Teams will be responsible for making all their own travel arrangements, including hotel reservations.
